Joined Petty Enterprises as crew chief for driver Kyle Petty. In September 2006, Andrews switched gears to lead Bobby Labonte’s efforts in the No. 43 car. During his tenure with the two drivers, he achieved two top-five and eight top-10 finishes in the Cup Series.
2004
In April, Andrews took over the interim crew chief role at Akins Motorsports in the Nationwide Series. His drivers included Kasey Kahne, Regan Smith and Tyler Walker. His efforts led to two pole positions, seven top-five and 12 top-10 finishes.
2002-
2004
Named crew chief for driver Jeff Burton at Roush Racing in September 2002. His No. 99 team posted five top-five and 15 top-10 finishes in Cup Series competition.
1999-
2002
Hired in May as crew chief at Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI) for its No. 1 Cup Series operation. He worked with driver Steve Park and later, Kenny Wallace, when Park was injured. Andrews was instrumental in helping Park score his two career Cup victories. Andrews’ credits during this period also included three poles, 13 top-five and 31 top-10 finishes.
1996-1999
Paired with driver Jeremy Mayfield in the No. 12 entry for Penske-Kranefuss Racing in the Cup Series. With Mayfield at the wheel, Andrews guided his driver to one victory, one pole, 18 top-five and 25 top-10 finishes. In 1998, the team finished sixth in the Cup Series standings.

1996
Worked as crew chief for Alan Kulwicki Racing and driver Alan Kulwicki. The team name was changed to Geoff Bodine Racing after the death of Alan Kulwicki shortly into the 1993 Cup Series season. While calling the shots for Kulwicki, Andrews helped his owner/driver win the 1992 Cup Series championship. The duo also collected six victories, 21 poles, 35 top-five and 62 top-10 finishes. With Geoff Bodine Racing, Andrews’ team earned five wins, five poles, 10 top-five and 20 top-10 finishes.

Served as crew chief for driver Rusty Wallace at Rusty Wallace Racing in St. Louis. Andrews helped Wallace earn the 1979 Rookie-of-the-Year honors in the USAC Stock Car division. In 1981, the team finished second in the USAC Stock Car division point standings. Two years later, Andrews and Wallace won the ASA championship.
