Ernie Petterson

Ernie Petterson has been a loyal NAPA AUTO PARTS customer for 30 years and has passed down his NAPA brand loyalty to each of his eight children, 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren over the past three decades. Petterson, a service writer and mechanic based out of the Key Auto Service Center, always boasts the quality of the NAPA parts to his customers in the New Hampshire area. In his spare time, Petterson enjoys boating, fishing and most of all watching NASCAR races alongside his wife of 43 years, Doreen.

Petterson and Doreen were able to have a behind-the-scenes look at the NASCAR garage on Sunday afternoon alongside the Hendrick Motorsports team. They walked through as engines were warming up, inspection was underway and teams were preparing to go racing. They were even able to have a private tour of the NAPA hauler before meeting Chase Elliott on the grid after driver introductions. After wishing him luck in the race and taking a photo beside his name on the car, Petterson was treated to VIP seating atop the NAPA pit box beside crew chief Alan Gustafson and the No. 24 engineers for the race.

How was your experience as NAPA’s Honorary Pit Crew Member?
"I think it was a once in a lifetime experience. It was the most exciting thing I’ve done in years. Hendrick Motorsports were great hosts, they were great people and it was really well worth it. I loved sitting up with the crew chiefs – I loved it up there. It was cool man! Of course meeting the drivers was cool too. I’m going to be here next year."
